Join Us At The Hallowell Center
Dr. Hallowell and I just met at the Hallowell Center a few days ago - to put the final plans together for the ‘Unwrapping The Gift of ADD’ program which will be launching in a few days (The website will go live on Wednesday April 16th at 12 pm EDT, 9 am PDT).
I thought it would be fun to bring my camcorder - and let you join me for this journey. You’ll get to:
- See Dr. Hallowell’s office
- Listen in as I ask him some of the questions that have come up on this blog (i.e. that you’ve sent in)
- and hear more about ‘Unwrapping The Gift of ADD’
Even though you may not ever be able to visit the Hallowell Center - you can check it out with me on these videos…
This video runs about 15 minutes - so it had to be broken into two parts (Youtube only allows 10 minute videos…)
Enjoy!
…and as always, please leave your comments below.

Since my son gave me signs he might deal with ADHD, I was dreaming about someone else except me (a professional), believing also in THE GIFT OF ADHD! and approaching this issue positively!!!
Bless you for your initiative!
Fully faithful (to your approach!!!),
Yours,
Ana
P.S. Because I read almost all dr. Hallowell’s books (here in Israel it’s not always trivial to find English specialty literature), I approached this field hopefull and drug free oriented!
P.S.S. Garett LoPorto is also among the people who gave me confidence and hope!
Dr. Hallowell many of us have known this strength based approach for some time - due to some articles we read - the author may be some one you know {http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33331} - however this author is some one you do not yet know {http://www.addforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=260696&postcount=15} We have stood our ground in the face of attacks {http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27389} - as you can see a sub-set of folks have already done some ground work among our peers Previous articles by Dr Hallowell have been very helpful in this!
Speading the word - hope ya didn’t mind if we a few years back - and we look forward this movement - your message wasn’t out long before it went up - {http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51219}
Just had to say thank you for the video. It’s difficult to pay attention to the words sometimes and to have the learning presentation of visual and vocals, helps. We learn in three different ways and I seem to do well with the visuals and kinetics and not so well with the audiory, reading is difficult for me to stay on track. Thanks again, I can feel that you are listening to us as you go along.
I am so thrilled, after watching this video, and look forward to more updates. This approach is so needed! As the mother of a7 yr old boy, who exhibits many of the ADHD symptoms, I have avoided taking him to psychiatrists thus far, for fear of ” the diagnosis”. I see my son’s many gifts and want to learn a more positive approach to dealing with him so as to promote these gifts.!!! Can’t wait for more info…
Thanks Dr. Kenny - You are off to a great start!
My thought is about communication with teachers and school admin around this approach. I get it and practice it at home. My difficulty is how to relay this message appropriately and succinctly to the school. I need the tools as a parent to teach and support my son’s team. I would encourage you to create online communication specifically for teachers, coaches and admin that raises awareness but also gives tips and tools for schools. Handing the school a book, DVD or ticket to a lecture has failed for me in the past. Perhaps a series of short YouTube videos
I can email would work……..just thinking……..thanks.
I am so excited about Unwrapping Gift About Add , Thanks for putting all your time and efford into tjhis ,your guys are going to help so many people.
I cannot wait for more information about this.
ADHD can be a wonderful gift IF accurately diagnosed!
Often untreated ADHD can lead to depression, substance abuse, and a lifetime of failures. Unwrapping the many gifts about ADHD needs to be communicated to every individual that is aware they have the disorder (or better stated “this gift”) BUT helping educators, counselors, and psychiatrists to better recognize the signs of ADHD needs to be a priority. I will be attending Dr. Hallowell’s ADHD seminar offered through the Cape Cod Institute.
I look forward to learning even more about this gift so I can help to treat it more effectively. I have ADHD, but it was never diagnosed until I diagnosed myself at the age of 45! Now I have learned to manage my ADHD so I CAN recognize it as a gift…before it was a curse!
I am heartened by your project.
I just retired after 35 years as a high school teacher (Math., Science & Spec. Ed.) in Toronto.
I have just found out that I am an adult with ADD, but my work with my own physicians, and the fact that I have worked as a Special Education teacher for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB)
have put me in a positive mood. I look forward to your approach and using it in my own case and the students and adults I encounter in my role as a supply teacher.
“la lutte continue” (”the struggle continues”)
Thanks so much.
Is this for real. I hope so. Sounds too good to be true. My son is 30 with ADD. Diagnosed when he was 12. We have been floundering looking for help for years. It is now severely affecting his job, relationships and health. He looks like he hasn’t slept in years. He says he just can’t shut his mind off. I just pray this seminar will help him. Thank you so much!
I’m looking forward to being able to access the tools that will unwrap the gifts within me. You’ve really sparked my interest and I’m happy to be a part of this.
Thanks
